Principal Lorie M. Ratchford, B.A . M. Ed.

Mrs. Ratchford will enter her first year as principal during the 2011-2012 school year. She oversees the day-to-day management of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, including the academics and discipline. She has served in various capacities at Bishop Carroll for the last 20 years.

Mr. Stephens serves at Chief Executive Officer of our school. He manages the financial operations at Bishop Carroll.

Mrs. Joann Adams

Teaches: Spanish I and II, Intro to Italian

Mrs. Adams is a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School and St. Francis College. She also is a moderator of the International Club at BC. She has also taught French in her time as a teacher.

Mr. Timothy Baacke

Mr. Baacke has a B.S. in music education and a history minor from Edinboro University. He is currently studying for his master's degree at Vandercook College of Music in Chicago.

Mrs. Karen Blaisdell

Teaches: Art I, Art II, Art Appreciation

Mrs. Blaisdell is a graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She also earned her B.S. in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She hopes to teach more art electives to our students in the future. Mrs. Blaisdell is also the moderator of the Art and Writing Club.

Ms. Burley received her BA in Math from Saint Francis University and her MS in Math from IUP.

Mrs. Mary Jo Butch, B.S.

Teaches: Health I, Health II, Physical Education

Mrs. Butch graduated from BC in 1973; she went on to graduate from Slippery Rock University in 1977 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Mrs. Butch has three children, a son and two daughters which all graduated from BC. This is her 30th year as a teacher at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.

Ms. Carlisle received her B.S. in Biology from Juniata College and B.S. in Secondary Education from UPJ. She is in her 12th Year teaching at BC and advises the Envirothon Team, Bowling Club, and book Club.

Mrs. Kimberly Dunlap, B.A.

Teaches: Advanced English, English 11, Public Speaking

Mrs. Dunlap has a B.A. degree in English along with her teaching certificate. She is also a graduate of Bishop Carroll. Mrs. Dunlap tries to challenge her students to prepare them for college. She loves to read, and her favorite author to teach is Shakespeare.

Mr. Thomas E. Graffte, B.S. M.Ed

Mr. Graffte assists with tutoring and detention here at Bishop Carroll. When he’s not teaching or tutoring he enjoys woodworking and working on his summer home in Maine. Each summer his children and grandchildren learn to cone, kayak, and enjoy nature in the “Wilds of Maine.” Needless to say his family and religion are very important in his life.

Ms. Michele Kirk, B.S.

Teaches: Science 9, Biology, Ecology, Zoology

Ms. Michele Kirk is the Senior Class Advisor. She is also a Student Outreach Assistance Refferal Student Assistance Program team member and the Power School Co-ordinator. Ms. Kirk loves traveling and hopes to visit all 50 States. To date she has visited 25 different states and 11 foreign countries.

Mrs. Laverick is a graduate of Shepherd University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science. She earned her master's degree in education and her Secondary Guidance Counselor certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. We are pleased to have Mrs. Laverick as our counselor after her respectable and dedicated career in public schools for over 30 years.

Mr. Nagy received a B. A. in Secondary Education/ Social Studies from the University of Pittsburgh- Johnstown. He received his M.Ed. in curriculum & Instruction from the University of Phoenix. Mr. Nagy is the NHS and Student Ambassador advisor. He works on Bishop Carroll’s international program and admissions program.

Ms. Rickard, B. A. M.S.

Teaches: Applied Chemistry, Modern Chemistry, Advanced Chemistry

Ms. Rickard has a B.A. and M.S. in Chemistry. She says that it is important for everyone to have an understanding of chemistry because everything and everyone is made of chemicals. Ms. Rickard tries to give the students a foundation to build on for future studies or just for their everyday life.

Mr. Raymond Seymour, M.A.

Teaches: Spanish and Latin

Mr. Seymour has a B.A. degree in Spanish from St. Francis University and a Master's degree in Spanish from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is currently a part-time teacher at BC and also teaches Spanish to the 8th graders at St. Michael's school in Loretto two days a week. Occasionally, Mr. Seymour instructs Latin at St. Francis University. He has been a teacher for over 40 years, and is working on translating Latin documents concerning Prince Demetrius Augustine of Galltzin.

Ms. Rasha Khedr-Shawarby, B.A.

Mrs. Shawarby is a graduate of the University of London with a general certificate of education. She earned her B.A. in Literature and Linguistics from Cairo University. She has two children; a son in college, and a daughter who is an attorney in Hawaii.

Mr. Skura is certified in English 7-12 and also received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Early Childhood Education from Mount Aloysius College. He is our Head Girls' Volleyball Coach, Sophomore Class Advisor, Student Activities Council Advisor, and National English Honor Society Advisor.
