Dress Code

Female students:

White short or long sleeved oxford shirt
White, navy blue, maroon or gray socks (solid colors only)
Navy blue or khaki dress pants
Navy blue skirt purchased through Schoolbelles
Brown or black belt
Uniform shoes must be solid brown or black leather slip-on, similar to ballet flat
Navy blue, maroon, gray sweater or vest purchased through Schoolbelles

Also:

  • Use of hair and make-up must be tasteful and moderate; no extreme make-up
  • Hair color should be used in appropriate, natural colors; students are not permitted to “tip” their hair, or have strands highlighted in extreme colors (red, blue, pink, green, orange, etc.)
  • Black nail polish is not permitted
  • Jewelry should be tasteful and not excessive; students are permitted to wear only two earrings; ear cuffs are not permitted
  • Tattoos must not be seen
  • Body piercing and facial jewelry are not permitted

Male students:

White short or long sleeved shirt
Navy blue or beige socks
Navy blue or khaki dress pants
Solid or subtly patterned neck tie; no sports logos or characters are permitted
Navy, gray or maroon sweater or vest purchased from Schoolbelles
Brown or black belt
Uniform shoes should be oxford with laces in brown or black leather

Also:

  • T-shirts with designs, writing, or printing that can be seen through dress shirts are not permitted
  • Hair should not fall over the collar, ears or eyes, and may only be colored appropriately in natural colors; extreme hairstyles and colors are not permitted
  • Boys must be well-groomed upon arrival to school, including clean-shaven; mustaches, beards and sideburns below the ears are not permitted; a fee of $2 will be charged to students who are sent to the office to shave
  • Earrings are not permitted
  • Tattoos must not be seen
  • Body piercing and facial jewelry are not permitted

On some occasions when students leave the school grounds to represent Bishop Carroll in academic or other educational events, they are permitted to wear business casual dress. Please see the handbook for a detailed description of business casual dress.

Polo Fridays, Spirit Days and Jean Days are also described in the handbook. Please read the descriptions carefully.
