Bishop Carroll Catholic High School recognizes the importance of reading in our students' future successes, both in and out of the classroom. Therefore, we continue to require that students complete a supplemental reading requirement in order to graduate. The Accelerated Reader (AR) program is used to assist students and teachers in completing this requirement.
During the summer of 2016, students are required to earn 14 points. Summer reading prepares students for the upcoming school year and gives teachers a common ground with which to begin instruction. Some specifics of this program are listed below.
Students may choose any book from our AR list provided it is not listed on the list of quizzes not available for testing.
Students may not check out books from the library over the summer. However, most books are readily available at most libraries and book stores. The Bishop Carroll computer lab will be open on the following dates for student AR testing:
Tuesday, July 26 - 10 a.m. to Noon
Tuesday, August 9 - 10 a.m. to Noon
