Merry Christmas

"And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all the people: For, this day is born to you a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David. And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the infant wrapped in swaddling close and laid in a manger."
- Luke 2:10-12

BC in the News

A Very Active BC Senior

Senior Michaela Gresko is active in almost every activity at BC, from organizing and serving as master of ceremonies for the school's Veterans Day program, to serving as vice president of the Student Council, to helping to coordinate BC's biannual blood drive (among a slew of other clubs, organizations, and activities!). Learning with Your Hands: BC's Pen Club is Flourishing

Did you catch the recent story in the Altoona Mirror featuring Bishop Carroll’s Pen Club, a group in which approximately 20 students gather after school to hand craft wood and acrylic pens? This group is a success amid a day and age where many districts face cuts to music and art, including shop classes.

The club's advisor, Ed Graffte, who also teaches physics, math, and computers at BC, has also incorporated pen-making into the school's curriculum. Every junior and senior physics student makes a pen as part of his class, where they learn the concepts behind shaping the pens.

Spreading Christmas Cheer

In the spotlight: Bishop Carroll senior likes 'to be active'

From the 12/5/15 issue of The Tribune-Democrat

If you need something done at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, look no further than Michaela Gresko.

The senior is active in almost every school activity, and believes that you only get to experience high school once so you better make the most of it.

“Everyone says high school is the best four years of your life, so I don’t want to look back and wish I was more involved,” the 17-year-old Loretto resident said. “I want to help other people at school so they can have a great high school experience, too.”

Recently, Gresko was put in charge of organizing the school’s first ever Veterans Day program.

She also served as the master of ceremonies.

“I was a little nervous, but I’m glad we did it because it’s important to show appreciation for the vets in our area,” Gresko said.
