Alumna Honored for Making a Difference in Her Profession and Her Community

Kerri Golden, class of ’93, was among nine women honored at the 32nd Annual YMCA Tribute to Women in May. Chairwoman of the event, Valerie Deater, said the honorees demonstrated exceptional values and leadership in both their careers and personal lives.

Golden’s award was in the Professions category. An Associate Professor of occupational therapy at Saint Francis University, her work goes beyond student instruction.

Prestigious Penn State Alumni Award Goes to BC Alumna

Class of ’95 alumna Susan McNulty-Atwater has received the Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award from Penn State. She recently told the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat she is humbled to part of such an impressive group of awardees.

New Research on Self-Discipline and Catholic Schools Featured in Wall Street Journal

The editorial board of the Wall Street Journal recently ran an op/ed about the results of a study conducted for the Thomas B. Fordham Institute by University of California-Santa Barbara associate professor Michael Gottfried and doctoral student Jacob Kirksey, which found statistically meaningful evidence that students in Catholic schools exhibited less disruptive behavior than their counterparts in other schools.

New Program Could Redirect Your Tax Dollars to BC

Pennsylvania recently expanded a tax credit program, originally created for businesses, to be open to individuals. That means you could direct your state tax dollars to Bishop Carroll in the form of a donation to be used for financial aid. Many students at BC rely on financial aid, and your participation in this program could help even more students, while also freeing up funds for other areas of need.
