Remembering Mary Jo Butch

Mary Jo (Martynuska) Butch taught health and physical education at Bishop Carroll for 33 years. She passed away on April 9, 2014, but her contributions to Bishop Carroll and her impact on countless students won’t be forgotten.

Mary Jo had three children, Jude, Victoria, and Katelyn with her husband, Donald. She had a passion for reading, dogs, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and giving back to her community and Bishop Carroll.

She is greatly missed by many, and remembered by many for her contributions!

Dr. Robert Maruca ’80 and Deb Maruca: Why They Support Bishop Carroll

Rob and Deb MarucaDr. Robert Maruca ’80 and his wife, Deb Maruca, have been loyal supporters of Bishop Carroll for years. Rob graduated from Bishop Carroll in 1980 and continued his education at Juniata College, followed by Georgetown University, ultimately becoming a Doctor of Dental Surgery.

All four of Rob and Deb's boys attended Bishop Carroll: Robert Jr. ’09, Mark ’11, Nicholas ’12, and David ’14.

Former Teacher of the Year Judy Rickard Goes the Extra Mile to Help Students Learn Chemistry

Teaching Chemistry at Bishop Carroll for 20 years has allowed Judy Rickard to take pride in having helped countless students in a notoriously difficult subject.

"It's not an easy subject," she said. "I really wanted everyone to pass."

Judy's commitment to her students, combined with the invaluable experience they had at Bishop Carroll, positioned many of her students for a strong professional, personal, and spiritual future.
