How to Keep in Touch with BC During this Time

Currently our facilities are closed, but most staff members continue to work at home and can be reached by email. We will be distributing our next Bishop Carroll News via email, so please make sure to pass this message along to other alumni, friends and family who may not be on our email list. Our website now includes a sign-up form under NEWS where alumni and friends can submit their information. Also new on the website is a form for submitting questions about anything from enrollment to giving to upcoming events. Please feel free to submit a question.

Advice on Participating in Meaningful Prayer and Liturgical Celebrations from Home

Bishop Carroll Family,

I hope that everyone is holding up well during this interim time period. We are fortunate and blessed with modern technology to be continuing our online studies. This will allow all students to continue learning and working and is a great positive aspect to our school!

Please note that during this time, there are no office hours and no one is to be in the school or the gym. If you need to contact a faculty or staff member, please do so by email.

As many of you are aware, the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown has suspended the public celebration of the Mass. Please read this letter from Mrs. Blaisdell and myself which will provide some direction as to how to still participate in Liturgical celebrations and meaningful prayer during this time.

When information and updates are received, we will pass them along to you. Continue to practice healthy hygiene and follow any directives given by authorities.

We will emerge from this stronger than ever. Allow this time to help strengthen your prayer life and relationship with your family and with God.

God bless you all!

Mr. Nagy

How BC is Responding to COVID-19

Alumni and friends,

Like America and many parts of the world, Bishop Carroll is feeling the significant impact of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.

BC is fortunate to have a solid virtual learning program in place, allowing students and teachers to seamlessly transition to at-home academic instruction. Sadly, athletics and activities have been postponed. Our students work so hard, it’s heartbreaking to see their sports seasons, music and drama programs, art projects and other activities put on an abrupt hold. I know also that they are missing their friends and teachers. I speak for our entire board of trustees, faculty and staff when I say we are immensely proud of our students and the grace and maturity they have shown throughout this ordeal.

It’s critical that Bishop Carroll remain strong to continue to provide families with a strong, Catholic education, and most importantly, to give our students the reassurance that BC is a constant in their young lives amidst so much uncertainty. Many people have reached out to ask how they can help. We are anticipating several issues:

1-families who may be experiencing financial hardship that impacts their ability to pay tuiton.

2- loss of revenue from fundraising events that are now postponed to far later dates, including the Craft & Vendor Fair and the Carrollian Gala, both of which generate thousands of dollars for students.

I know that times are uncertain and for many of us, unprecedented. Now more than ever it’s important that we join together to support each other and our local communities. If you are able, please consider a gift to Bishop Carroll now to assure that we can support our families and remain strong now and be at-the-ready to welcome back our students when the time comes—hopefully sooner than later. We are so eager to have our school community together again.

Please also remember Bishop Carroll and our students and families in your prayers now and always. I am praying for each of you and the health, safety and security of our entire Bishop Carroll family.

Gratefully,

Lynn Weber, CEO
