BISHOP CARROLL STUDENTS SHOW HEART

One characteristic that shines forth from Bishop Carroll students is heart.  The students show heart in many ways, especially in the support of each other in their endeavors.

Recently, with the girls and boys basketball playoffs, the student body turned out in droves to support the teams, even making long journeys to the girls game against Otto-Eldred in Duke Center and the boys game against Union in Kittanning.  All season long, the students supported the teams with their cheering.

This is not an isolated example of the students supporting one another.  When the Drama Club puts on a show, the crowd is filled with Bishop Carroll students.  Many came out to donate blood to help their National Honor Society classmates reach their goal in the blood drive.

In addition to supporting each other, the students support those in need.  Recent efforts to raise funds for different causes, included cancer research, the Dorothy Day Center, and a large effort to support Ukrainian refugees.

Bishop Carroll students also display heart in their care and concern for each other.  Father Andriy is very grateful for the support that the students and staff have shown toward him and his family during this time of crisis.  The students freely offer prayer and signs of support.

One aspect of heart is respect.  Substitute teachers comment on the high level of respect that our students display.  The office staff speaks highly of the courtesy the students show when they enter.  In the words of Mrs. Weber, “Our students are just good people.”

Even the simple greetings that the students give teachers and classmates is something that is not seen with regularity in society.  When the students ask someone, “How are you,” they truly want to know the answer.  They want to be there to support each other.  When they know a friend is in need of support, they do what they can to help them while also seeking out an adult to assist.

Our students truly care about their school and the individuals involved with it.  They care about the future of the school and the younger students.  Many volunteer to help where they can with the grade school students and enjoy interacting with them.  Head of School Mr. Cotchen said, “I am truly grateful to come to Bishop Carroll every day, mostly because of the students.  They make my day great, simply because of their respectfulness and cheerfulness.”

Our doors are open to all students who would like to become part of such a great school family.  Contact the school today to schedule a visit!
