During their back to school in-service, the teachers at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School were surprised to each receive a $100 Amazon Gift Card to use for classroom supplies.
Several supporters of the school, including families and businesses, donated towards this project, many expressing their thanks for the hard work that the teachers do. One anonymous donor commented that, “I know that the teachers at BC dip deep into their own pockets for classroom supplies, and I just wanted to help.”
The project started small, with a projected goal of giving each teacher a $25 gift card. With the overwhelming response, the value rose to $100. In addition, extra funds were donated to provide new classroom fans, as well as having a reserve fund for additional classroom needs.
Social Studies teacher Mr. Jeremiah Grosser remarked, “It is nice to have funds to purchase for our classrooms that I didn’t get with my own money. I am very appreciative of the support and the ability to get what I need when the needs arise.” English teacher Ms. Katelyn Waterhouse commented, “This was an unexpected generosity. It is yet another reminder of what it means to be part of the BC family.”
“We are grateful for the continued support of so many individuals,” said Head of School Mr. Steve Cotchen. “Our teachers continuously exceed expectations in providing students with an exceptional education. This act of kindness from the community is a great vote of confidence for each teacher.”
