Each year, the students and staff of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School participate in several service projects. One of the largest service projects each year is the Angel Tree Project, sponsored by Catholic Charities and Children and Youth Services. Bishop Carroll has partnered with these organizations for over a decade now.
Catholic Charities provides us with lists of families in need and items for Christmas. While some of the items are toys and nice gifts for children, many are regular household items for these struggling families, including toiletries, laundry baskets, personal hygiene products, kitchen needs, and gift cards to purchase food. The Bishop Carroll community has always been very generous in their donations towards the Angel Tree Project, and this year was no exception. Ten families were able to benefit from the generosity of BCCHS.
After all gifts are purchased and brought to the school, students, and staff volunteer to wrap and label each and every gift. This project may seem daunting, but everyone enjoys their time, doing what they can, having a snack, and a warm cup of hot chocolate in the process.
Religion teacher and campus ministry director Mrs. Karen Blaisdell expressed her appreciation to all involved, adding, “The need is great, and we are blessed to be able to share what we have with others. Our students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration joined in the effort to provide gifts for the families on our list. We are all called to care for each other, and our Angel Tree program gives us a wonderful opportunity to do that. Thank you to everyone who participated this year, and we look forward to spreading the Christmas joy again next year!”
Thank you again to all involved. The students of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School are truly showing their dedication to others, day in and day out, and this project highlights that ability.
